The Hudson Valley Women were a solid and unyielding force on Saturday against Suffolk Bullmoose. Within the first few minutes of kick off, Kelly Jutt ran down the field to score the first of her two tries on the muddy pitch. This set the tone for the lady rebels that this would be a game of domination. Although the field was not very solid on Saturday morning, the forwards were able to set rucks and mauls and tire the Suffolk Bullmoose team. The silent forces of the pack, April Hayden, Dana Johnston, Erin Simmons, Stephanie Tito, and Kris Wiedenheft helped the rebels playing forward moving rugby, making excellent tackles and on field decisions. Second row Rebecca Small was able to score her second try as a rebel. Man of the match, Elise Gramaglia also was able to sneak in a try late in the second half.

On field captain, Alison Macleod showed leadership and allowed for the lady rebels to act as a cohesive unit on the field. Bethany Humphrey was able to control the pace of the game, set plays for the backline and added two tries on the day. The weakness of Suffolk Bullmoose was exploited by with the dynamic backline play. Patricia Brilla, Dana Wasserman, and Kristina Mycek had key tackles and runs throughout the day and did not allow the lady rebels to be scored upon. Newcomer Elizabeth Lay scored her first rebel try late in the second half, shortly followed by Jennifer Diliddo who broke away from the pack and scored a try. The lady rebels played aggressively all game and are showing teams that they are a force to be reckoned with on the pitch. The Hudson Valley Women Rebels will face Albany at home this Saturday (check website for time/location).
