The Hudson Valley Rebel Women's Rugby Team tied this Wednesday against Nationally ranked Vassar Women's Rugby Team. The Lady Rebels made a strong showing out of the gate playing forward moving rugby throughout the game.

The forwards were able to offensively keep the ball moving down the field by setting rucks and mauls which kept Vassar on their heels for the majority of the game. Two strong showings came from Kelly Jutt and Becky Small who both where able to break from the pack and gain yards at points throughout the match. Eventually both picked up a try each for the rebels after a hard fought drive downfield to the line. Forwards Dana Johnston, Stephanie Tito, Elise Gramaglia, Theresa Castellane and Captain Alison Lenci helped to provide the muscle required to make the drives toward the try line.

Alison MacCleod also brought speed and vision to the scrum position, which was able to feed the backline on times, occasions. Beth Humphrey helped to set the pace and guide the backline who provided support to the pack at intricate points in the match. Although few opportunities arose during the match, the backline, filled out by Jen Dolliddo and Trish Brillo, where able and ready to set plays and gain yards when the ball as brought out of the pack.

In the end the game was tied 10-10 in the final seconds of the match, as the vassar women where able to exploit on Rebels fitness level. Although ending in a tie, an all around good showing was provided by the lady rebels and the tone has been set for the upcoming season.
