Hudson Valley 41 - Suffolk B.M. 0 |

On a bespattered pitch in Newburgh, the Hudson Valley Rebels
defeated the MetUnion divisional rival Suffolk Bullmoose Rugby
Club this past Saturday with a score of 41 - 0.
Field conditions would force the Rebels to rely on their forwards
to maintain posession. Jay Kimler of Montgomery, supported by
Joe Dabritz of Margaratville and Mike Greenblatt of Hyland, would
be the first to find some field and finish a 40-meter run with the first
try of the day. David Mowen of Beacon and Tim Taylor of Hyland
were found all over the pitch setting platforms which helped
Man of the Match recipient Chris Ray of Glenham dig out
the ball who would also finish the day with a try of his own.
Flankers Nate Brooks of Newburgh and Bill Castellane of Salisbury
Mills solidified their respective sides which would lock up the
Suffolk pack taking away any chance of scoring.
A depleted Rebel backline found solace in their depth of talent. Justin Bard of Poughkeepsie, Mariano Choconi of Greenwood Lake, Jon Jones of Hyland all found scoring opportunities and combined for 21 points on the day. Defensively, Patrick English of Goshen and Alresch Jay of Newburgh were aggressive and fast, and gave scoring opportunities to the Suffolk backline through 80 minutes of play. A second-half surge from Jim Robinson of Walden, Alec Smassanow of Woodbourne, Eric Nicholson of Fishkill along with the hard running Mike Rydell of Wallkill would yield another try and gave the Rebels their second win of the Spring season with a final score of 41 - 0.
As tradition in Rugby, our own George Roberts of New Windsor
and Steve Kissenger of Montgomery provided Suffolk with some
much needed backline support and ran tough through the entire
match.
