The Hudson Valley Rebels continued their undefeated season this past Saturday winning on the road against the Old Maroon Rugby Club of the Bronx with a score of 67 ~ 7.

The Rebels would be the first to score on a penalty kick by Jonathan Jones of Highland to put the Rebels up but Old Maroon would counter with a try that temporarily gave them the lead. Some missed calls and sloppy field conditions would be the toughest challenge for the Rebels as tempers flared throughout the match although it wouldn't be long before they brought it back together again.

Leading the offense was Mariano Choconi of Greenwood Lake and Patrick English of Goshen, each with 3 try's, as the backline balanced their running and kicking attack. Many would contribute to the Rebels 67 points including multiple try's by Kieran Killeen of Pomona and Jonathan Jones as well as Brendan Bernacki of Beacon who capped the day with his first career try. Veteran backs Mike Zentz of Mountainville and Justin Bard of Conn. protected the parameters ensuring Old Maroon had no open space to run.

The Rebel forwards, lead by David Mowen of Beacon, Ryan Bells of Washingtonville, Chris Deloughery of New Windsor and "Man of the Match" recipient Mark Cozzupoli were a formidable force keeping Old Maroon out of striking distance while Alec Smassanow of Woodbourne along with Eric Nicholson of Glenham, Jay Kimler of Montgomery and Joe Dabritz of Margaritville would orchestrate the very successful mauling attack; one of which marched the Rebels 40 meters down the field.

The Rebels finished the day with another win securing their place at the top of the DIII MetUnion with a score of 67 - 7 over the Old Maroon Rugby Club from the Bronx.

The Rebels are now 2 - 0 on the season as they host the New York American Rugby Club this Saturday in Beacon.
