Hudson Valley
Youth Program in it's infancy
PART I Hi All, Input needed on Y.R..Question at hand: Should we formalize an "official" position(s) for youth rugby within the club structure? My 2C- Yes-because this is high risk exposure for the club. If a youth function is pulled off Half-Arsed, the untapped potential of the soccer mom scene will remained untapped-and no doubt we will be bad mouthed in the community. OTOH, if it is successful, here comes the $$$$, the people, future ruggers and support. Methinks current old boys, me self, and ruggers with kids or experience with kids (not the "kind" Butch got accused of) who have a vested self interest should be approached. Awaiting your enlightened guidance, PART II Hi all, I am in the early planning stage of forming youth rugby within our club. This endeavor will build upon the rapid growth (men's & women's) and success this club has recently enjoyed. If we wish to continue to go forward, we need to set the groundwork now while the momentum is very favorable. Timeline for Youth Rugby (12 and Under): __________Summer 06 -recruit members of HVRFC to volunteer - determine who has kids within our club (age and numbers) - start to address A)Insurance B)Field usage C)Appropriate practice/scrimmage times D)Coaching-certificates/volunteers E)Flyers F)CIPP kids? G)Garner additional resources -IRB Grants -Sponsorship -Refreshments H)Place within club structure __________Fall 06 __________Spring 07 -80% complete __________Summer 07 -Summer intro day or camp __________Fall 07 -Practice schedule -Scrimmage schedule Please reply if you have kids who would be interested in participating or if you can offer assistance, suggestions, or volunteer. "If were not moving forward, then were probably going backward" C-Ray Thanks, Contact Justin Brown (ejkbrown@yahoo.com)
