Rockaway 7's Recap:
Hudson Valley Brings Home Experience and Hardware:
This past weekend proved to be a good one for the Hudson Valley name.  Fisrt the women, who in game one lost a tight one, but Oneonta some great team continuity. Next was a forfeit leaving them at 1-1, only to get the unfortunate pull of the New York Horses( I mean Women). While the score was alot to a little, they never gave up and showed that they are determined to build this team into a name to contend with. Cheers to the Lady Rebels.

For the men things started out a little rough with a tie against Rockaway B, and a loss to Oneonta. It seemed we had an uphill battle on our hands, but for the fist semi we were given a by and a long rest. Coming into our next semi we looked tired and not ready to play, but once we hit the field everything changed. By the time the game was over Plattsburgh didn't know what hit the with score 5 tries to 1. The win brought us into the bowl final against New Paltz ulumni.

The game was a defensive battle until Mariano put us on the board with a penalty kick, and Muzzy followed with a Try. A flustered New Paltz gave Oliver a penalty try, And we never looked back. Cheers to the men for bringing home some hardware, and continuing a tradition of winning.  Lastly thanks to all who traveled to support both teams.

Girls Make a Statement:

There is a discrepancy.

The women played their first match against Stony Brook. I don't remember the score(so if someone can help me with that), but it was a good game especially since most of us had never played a real sevens game before.

The next match was against the horses that C-Ray spoke of. That was a tough game and the score honestly didn't matter. We played hard and did well against an extremely tough team that is nationally ranked.

The last match was against Village Lions. This was a good game and we could tell by this game that our sevens skills were improving. We were really getting a good idea of how to play the game and coming together as a team. This was my favorite match of the day for that reason.

All in all, it was bad luck to have to play the new york club, but it was a good day and a lot of fun. Going in the ocean afterwards was a nice ending to the day.

Great job girls!! I'm proud of all of us and thank you for all that showed up. Especially thank you to Alison for putting up the money for the tourney after the confusion.
